Khomutov Ivan Alexandrovich
Ivan Khomutov has been with Petromarket RG since 2012; in the six years to 2018, he rose from his initial position as analyst to become Petromarket RG’s general director.
As well as advising key clients on the problems of oil and gas development in the countries of the former Soviet Union, Ivan is also responsible for the general management of the company and for the creation and implementation of its development strategy.
His main areas of professional interest include state regulation of the fuel and energy complex of the former countries of the Soviet Union and the drafting of national and corporate strategic documentation governing the fuel and energy sectors of the former USSR.
Prior to becoming general director of Petromarket Research Group in 2018, Ivan first worked in the company as an analyst, then as a consultant, later as a research project director and finally as deputy general director of research and consulting. Ivan has advised both businesses and government on issues relating to the development of the oil and gas industry in Russia, Kazakhstan and in the other countries of the former USSR. He has not only been instrumental in setting up Petromarket RG’s research activity, but also in developing the company’s modelling tools (econometric models of petroleum product demand, LP models of oil refineries and gas processing plants, game theory simulations of the crude oil and petroleum product markets and financial models of investment projects in the oil and gas industry).
In the period between 2011 and 2013, Ivan taught microeconomics at the Faculty of Economics of the Higher School of Economics, whilst at the same time carrying out research on the problems of the Russian economy under the guidance of Ye. G. Yasin.
Between 2009 and 2010, as a mathematician working in the field of IT, Ivan was engaged in a study of the Yandex and Google search algorithms and the development of advanced search engine optimisation.
Ivan is both a professional economist and a mathematician. In 2010, he graduated with honours from a specialist programme taken in the Mechanics and Mathematics Department of Tula State University and, in 2012, from a master's degree taken at the Faculty of Economics of the Higher School of Economics.
Ivan is married and a father of one daughter.
